研究活動の紹介 1)染色体の構造変化が植物の形質に与える影響の研究
 染色体の本数やそこに存在する遺伝子の並び順は、生物の種分化に深く関わることが知られていますが、それらがどのように生物の形や性質に影響するのかはわかっていません。私は、染色体の構造変化により花のサイズや葉の形が変わる突然変異体を手がかりとして、染色体の構造が果たす役割について研究しています。       
2)植物のオスとメスを決める性染色体の研究
 植物のオスとメスを決める染色体(性染色体)の研究をしています。オスとメスを決める遺伝子は何か、またどのようにしておしべとめしべの発達を制御するのか、性染色体はどうやってできたのか、を研究しています。
3)花きの品種改良
 上記でわかってきたことを利用してお花の品種改良の研究を開始しました。
