What is the World Café?
The World Café is a place where students can freely come to have a chatin English or enjoy communicating with foreign students. Our goal is to create a space where people can learn about foreign languages and foreign cultures while having fun.

At the World Café, there is a native English instructor working full-time, supported by part-time students. The room is
divided into two spaces: a space for studying (The Gakushu-space), and a space for interacting (the Koryu-space). In the Gakushu-space, besides practicing your English with our instructor, you can also study for the TOEIC-test or practice English on one of our computers. You can also use our computers to gather information about studying abroad. At the other side, there is the Koryu-space. Here you can interact and communicate with other students. You are also allowed to bring your own drinks and snacks so you can enjoy watching foreign movies and news, read a newspaper or magazine, play a game or take part in a quiz, or just relax and have a talk with your friends, foreign students, the instructor or the other staff members, and all of this over a cup of tea. Also feel free to join us in one of our events organized by our student staff members. At these events we also welcome non-students to come and take a look at the World Café.

When can come to the World Café?
The World Café is open from Monday to Friday (12:00 - 18:00) except for holidays. The opening hours may also vary depending on the usage by the students.

Who can use the World Café?
Besides students of Fukui Prefectural University, students from other universities are also free to take part in our activities. Depending on the planned event, we also welcome non-students to the World Cafe.

What can you do at the World Café?
Our "Cafe" is divided into a space for studying, the Gakushu-space, and a space for interaction, the Koryu-space. In the Gakushu-space, the central word is STUDY, where the Koryu-space stands for PLEASURE. In other words,
the World Cafe is a place for students to get familiar with foreign languages and foreign cultures.

What is the Gakushu-space?
In the Gakushu-space, besides practicing your English with our instructor, you can also study for the TOEIC-test or practice English on one of our computers. You can also use our computers to gather information about studying abroad. In addition we also plan on providing information about Japan and Fukui for foreign students.

What is the Koryu-space?
In the Koryu-space one is allowed to bring one's own food or drink. It is not all about learning English, but also about strengthening ones motivation to study foreign languages and about communicating with each other. You can expand you understanding of foreign languages and foreign cultures by watching foreign movies and news, read a newspaper or magazine, play a game or take part in a quiz, or just relax and have a talk with your friends, foreign students, the instructor or the other staff members. This is what the Koryu-space has to offer, under the motto: "learning while having fun".
