The fusion of “physical” and “digital” in paleontological research

The Institute of Dinosaur Research was established in 2013 as a foundation of dinosaur research with a purpose of "providing a place where students can study dinosaurs and vertebrate paleontology". While focusing on a classic research style, “physical” paleontology, that makes use of specimens and fieldwork in close collaboration with the Dinosaur Museum, we also incorporate "digital" paleontology with the latest techniques, such as CT analyses and 3D scanning, to develop high-quality research. We also focus on joint research projects with domestic and international institutions. We expand our research network through field works outside our region to overseas such as China and Thailand and conduct research on variable subjects of paleontology.
