　 "Life and element cycling in the hadal realm" 

　The hadal realm is the depest part of the global ocean streatching from 6 to 11 km of depth. It was once thought to be deprived of life and of little biogeochemical importance. Now we know that hadal trenches acts as depocenter and are hot spots for biological activity in the deep ocean. The presentation will present and discuss the newest insight on life and biogeochemical processing in the deep.

　"Study on improving sensitivity of oxygen optodes in water" 

　To improve the sensitivity of oxygen optodes in water, the influence of the combination and formulation ratio of polymers and dyes used was investigated. The results showed that optodes using silicone with high oxygen permability as a binder exhibited higher DO sensitivity than conventional ones.
